Privacy Policy

1. Information we collect
- Account information — When you register, we collect your name, email address, and a hashed password.
- Usage data — We collect information about how you interact with the platform, including features accessed, sequences uploaded, and tool outputs generated. This data is used solely to improve the product.
- Biological sequence data — DNA, RNA, and protein sequences you upload or create are stored securely and are never shared with third parties. You retain full ownership of all sequence data.
- Device and log data — We automatically collect IP addresses, browser type, operating system, and referrer URLs for security and debugging purposes.
2. How we use your information
- To provide, maintain, and improve the Talindrew platform.
- To authenticate your identity and secure your account.
- To send transactional emails (account confirmation, password reset) and, with your consent, product updates.
- To analyse aggregate, anonymised usage patterns to guide product development.
- We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to third parties.
3. Data storage and security
- All data is encrypted in transit using TLS 1.2+ and at rest using AES-256.
- Sequence data is stored in isolated, access-controlled storage buckets. Internal access is limited to engineers with a need-to-know basis and is logged.
- We retain account data for the lifetime of your account plus 90 days after deletion. Sequence data is deleted immediately upon your request.
4. Cookies and tracking
- We use strictly necessary cookies to maintain your session.
- We use first-party analytics cookies to understand aggregate platform usage. No third-party advertising cookies are used.
- You can disable non-essential cookies in your browser settings at any time.
5. Third-party services
- We use a limited set of third-party sub-processors — including cloud infrastructure (Railway, Vercel) and payment processing — each bound by data processing agreements.
- The NCBI BLAST integration submits sequence queries to NCBI's public API. Please review NCBI's privacy policy for queries routed through their systems.
6. Your rights
- Access — You may request a copy of all personal data we hold about you.
- Correction — You may update inaccurate data at any time from your account settings.
- Deletion — You may delete your account and all associated data at any time. Requests are fulfilled within 30 days.
- Portability — You may export your sequence data and account information in standard formats at any time.

7. Children's privacy
- Talindrew is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
8. Changes to this policy
- We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify registered users by email of material changes at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the platform after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
