About this video

Connect Talindrew to Claude or Codex in about a minute, then ask in plain English. In Claude, add a custom connector with one address, sign in once and approve what it may do; then ask it to fetch pUC19, cut it with EcoRI and PvuII and show the gel. Claude calls Talindrew's tools, draws the plasmid map and the gel in the chat, and saves the result to your lab notebook. Codex connects the same way and scores CRISPR guides in EGFP with off-targets checked. The second half tours the workbench itself: Gibson assembly, CRISPR guide design, digests and gels, Sanger trace alignment, AlphaFold structures, a drug-discovery preset, the notebook and sharing. Recorded on the real apps.

What you will learn

  • Add Talindrew to Claude as a custom connector, and to Codex as an MCP server
  • Ask for a plasmid, a digest and a gel in plain English, and get them back in the chat
  • Save results to your lab notebook straight from the conversation
  • Score CRISPR guides with off-targets checked from Codex
  • What the Talindrew workbench does on its own: cloning, CRISPR, gels, Sanger, structures and drug discovery

    Intro

Your lab bench just learned to take requests. Ask Claude, or Codex, to clone a plasmid, run a gel, or design a CRISPR guide, and Talindrew does the real work, where you can see every step.

    Connect Talindrew to Claude

In Claude, open Customize, then Connectors, and add a custom connector. Name it Talindrew, and paste one address: mcp.talindrew.com. Sign in once. Talindrew shows exactly what Claude will be allowed to do, and you approve it.

Claude clones pUC19 and runs a gel

Now just ask. Fetch pUC19, cut it with EcoRI and PvuII, and show me the gel. Claude reaches for Talindrew's tools. It imports the plasmid and draws its map, right inside the chat. Then it digests it, runs the gel, and files the result in your lab notebook. One click opens the same gel in Talindrew, already saved as a notebook entry, and ready to share.

    Connect Codex

Codex works the same way. Plugins, add a custom MCP server, the same address, and sign in.

  5. 1:41

    CRISPR guides in Codex

Ask it for CRISPR guides in a stretch of EGFP, and Talindrew scores every one, with off-targets checked.

  6. 1:54

    Gibson cloning and CRISPR design

Everything the assistant touches lives in a real workbench. Here is what it can do. Cloning: take a backbone and an insert, choose Gibson assembly, and Talindrew joins them at their overlaps and draws the product as a new map. CRISPR: guides are designed on the sequence itself, each one scored and ranked, and any guide can be found on the map.

  7. 2:21

Restriction digest, gel and Sanger checks

Find the cutters, digest in silico, and run the gel before you pour the agarose. Back from sequencing? Add the trace. Every read lines up against your construct, and every mismatch is flagged.

  8. 2:37

    AlphaFold protein structures

Search for any protein, open its predicted fold from AlphaFold, and turn it in three dimensions.

  9. 2:47

    Drug discovery: Quick look screen

Drug discovery starts from a preset. Quick look folds the target, finds its pocket, docks twenty approved drugs, and ranks them. You get a ranked short list. Celecoxib comes out on top, and every pose is there to inspect.

  10. 3:09

    Lab notebook and sharing

Any result goes into the lab notebook: here, the docked pose, as a 3D block. Share it as a read-only link, or invite a colleague to view or edit. Talindrew. Your bench, in Claude and in Codex. Connect at mcp.talindrew.com.
